Closer to Curing Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a very disturbing disease which is very difficult to handle. It is physically and emotionally draining to care for such patients as they need to be taken care of, round the clock.

If you are faced with such a situation, there is something that can be considered good news. A recent study conducted by the American Epilepsy Society, after careful studies and research have published the fact that a cannabis derivative substance is used to fight against epileptic symptoms. It is found to be especially active in children’s treatment.

The study has been titled “Efficacy and Safety of Epidiolex (cannabidiol) in Children and Young Adults with Treatment-Resistant Epilepsy”. The study and research results were released at the AES’s 70th annual meeting which was held during the previous month.

Cannabidiol, commonly abbreviated as CBD showed that it was effective in lowering the frequency as well as the enormity of the seizures in especially young adults and children. This project was conceived I Philadelphia in the year 2014 and it was a massive project conducted nationwide.

The voluntary patients who received this treatment showed a major improvement by showing a median reduction compared to the previous seizures that they were facing. The current reduction was around 45.1% which is almost like half. This miracle cure has definitely helped hundreds of people.

Some patients have shown a drastic improvement in their conditions by reaching a seizure-free status. The results were shown by 9 patients out of the total 13 in the group. The researchers are keen to spread this information to help people with such symptoms.

The key scholar behind this project, Elizabeth A. Thiele, M.D, Ph.D., stresses the advantages of using this CBD derived drug that has proved to be a miracle in many people’s lives. She expresses her opinion that it has been tried and tested and is safe for human consumption. It has not shown any adverse side effect so far, she says.

However, one must be forewarned that this drug cannot be taken without the proper prescription of a physician. This is because the symptoms vary from person to person and the dosage required is different too. It may cause hazardous side effects if the dosage self-prescribed it too high.

Also, an important fact to be kept in mind is that the pharmaceutical company undertaking the venture of manufacturing this drug must be able to precisely replicate its composition because even the slightest change in the ration of the THC to the CBD can cause adverse effects such as the seizures increasing or coming back altogether.

The caregivers must compulsorily consult a physician in regard to treating their ward with this miracle derivative. It may not work for people with different symptoms of the disorder.

After, careful discussion with your physician, considering the condition of the patient, this drug can be tested on the patient under careful and constant supervision.

We hope that more people are cured of epilepsy by this miracle.
