- CBD oil will not get you high: CBD oil offers health and wellness benefits without the "high" you get with THC. Cannabidiol is the full name for CBD and is one of the hundreds of compounds found in the cannabis plant. CBD does not have a psychoactive property like that of THC. CBD affects the body more than the brain. There are however two forms, full spectrum and isolate. The full spectrum form contains CBD along with some terpenes as well as other cannabinoids such as CBN, CBG, and even some THC. Even though you will not get high from CBD, if you get drug tested it is best to avoid the full spectrum form as there could be trace amounts of THC found. The isolate form will usually have a label stating 99.9+% CBD as this form is CBD isolated from other substances including THC. If you get drug tested, the isolate form is your best bet.
- CBD oil can be used to treat our pets: Our pets get many of the same illnesses as humans including arthritis, seizures and even anxiety. Pets benefit from CBD oil as much as humans, if not more. Dogs are especially receptive as they have the highest concentration of cannabinoid receptors in their brain and bodies compared to other animals, even humans. Since CBD has no psychoactive properties, it is impossible for your pet to hallucinate or get high. It is entirely safe for pets to take a regulated CBD oil treatment.
- CBD oil can be used to treat and prevent acne: Acne, also known as acne vulgaris is the most common skin disease in the world. Acne occurs when there is an overproduction of oils in the skin which clogs the pores. The oils consist of lipids or fatty acids. CBD inhibits lipid synthesis thereby eliminating the core problem.
- CBD oil can be used to help prevent diabetes: Insulin dysfunction causes diabetes. Cannabinoid receptors are in the islet cells of the pancreas that produce insulin. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body is unable to generate insulin. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body is unable to use insulin properly. CBD oil helps reduce inflammation, cell death and oxidative stress which are all linked to diabetes. It has even been shown to help reduce the need for insulin in some patients.
Everyone is different, but there are suggested dosages for CBD oil use. It is recommended to increase dosages every 3-4 weeks by 25 mg until symptoms are relieved and to decrease the amount if symptoms worsen. To treat chronic pain take 2.5-20 mg of CBD oil by mouth for approximately 25 days. To treat sleep disorders take 40-160 mg by mouth before bedtime. To manage glaucoma place a single dose of 20-40 mg under the tongue. Using more than 40 mg can increase eye pressure. CBD oil is a concentrated liquid that you place under the tongue which is absorbed in the mouth before swallowing. This step is essential because CBD will be broken down during the digestion process. The other oral methods of taking CBD oil include capsules and even edibles such as chocolate.
